It’s no secret that Austin ISD is underfunded, that charters are unregulated, and that private school subsidies further threaten the landscape of truly public schools. Trustees must be on the front lines and protect our public schools.
Accomplishments
Testified at the Capitol for greater charter school accountability
Proposed and passed the district’s first legislative priority to reduce the school to prison pipeline for students of color and students with disabilities
Held numerous get out the vote events with the community
Helped lead census efforts for AISD, which ultimately increases federal funding for our school district
Joined a movement and advocated relentlessly for $250 million in federal COVID relief, which was ultimately granted

Bring Texas up from the bottom 20% of per pupil funding nationally
Advocate for greater charter school transparency and accountability
Advocate vehemently against private school subsidies (also known as vouchers)
Create robust and sustainable opportunities for our community members to become effective advocates
